The University of La Serena cordially invites you to participate in the fourth Conference on Energy, Efficiency, and Environmental Sustainability (CEES-2023) held at the Hotel Club La Serena in Chile from November 29 to December 1, 2023.

CEES 2023 is an international conference specializing in current challenges in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability, promoting multidisciplinary interaction among researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, graduate and undergraduate students, the exchange of ideas and experiences, and the generation of international networks.

RAFAEL RAMÍREZ BON
Rafael Ramírez is a professor at CINVESTAV-IPN in Querétaro. He has degrees in Physics and has conducted research in the fields of semiconductor, metallic and ceramic coatings, as well as semiconductor electronic devices. He has been the Principal Investigator in 15 projects and has published 215 papers in peer-reviewed journals with over 2,400 citations. Dr. Ramirez has also directed more than 120 theses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has held various positions such as the President of the Mexican Vacuum Society from 1997 to 1998, a Member of the Mexican Academy of Science since 1996, and an Investigator Level 3 of the Mexican System of National Investigators since 2002. Dr. Ramirez is also a Fullbright Scholar at the University of Texas at Dallas between 2017 and 2018.
MARCELA VAZQUEZ
Marcela Vazquez is a full professor at the National University at Mar del Plata in Argentina and a Staff member of the National Research Council (Principal Researcher), CONICET, Argentina. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the same university. Dr. Vazquez conducted post-doctoral studies at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Liverpool. Her research focuses on electrochemistry and corrosion, and she has published numerous papers in prestigious journals. Dr. Vazquez has also supervised seven PhD theses and collaborated with international researchers from Chile, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, South Africa, The Netherlands, among others.
BELÉN VILLACAMPA
Dr. Belen Villacampa received her PhD from the University of Zaragoza in 1993 and carried out postdoctoral research in the Molecular and Quantum Electronics Department of the Centre National d'Etudes des Telecommunications. Her research has focused on nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of organic materials and optimization of photovoltaic devices, particularly Dye Sensitized Solar Cells. She has collaborated with several Spanish and foreign universities and has published over a hundred scientific papers. Dr. Villacampa is also involved in projects and activities for the dissemination of science and has taught several courses on General Physics and more advanced courses in the Physics Degree. She has held various management and academic positions, including PhD Coordinator of the International Excellence Campus Iberus.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTERS

Instructions for Oral Presentations (show more)
  • All speakers must submit their presentation to the session chairman before the session begins. This means that all presentations for Wednesday afternoon should be submitted before the presentations start (before 2:30 pm). The same applies for the following days.
  • There will be only one laptop available for loading all the presentations. Each speaker is responsible for verifying the proper functioning of their presentation.
  • All presentations must be in English.
  • Presentation times must be strictly followed. Each speaker will have 15 minutes to present plus 5 minutes for audience questions (if any). If the 15-minute presentation time is exceeded, the speaker must immediately move on to the question period.
  • If a speaker is absent, the following presentation will not be moved up. This is to maintain the schedule for those interested in attending the various presentations.
  • Attendance at the event is prohibited for individuals who are not properly registered.
  • Participation certificates will be sent via email upon request once the conference is finished.
  • Certificates will be sent only to those who presented at the conference.
  • In order to ensure respect for the speakers, it is strictly prohibited to talk on the phone inside the conference room. Please use silent mode or turn off your phone during your time in the rooms. Eating is also forbidden.
  • Any modifications to the program will be announced in a timely manner.
Instructions for the Poster Session (show more)
  • Poster dimensions must strictly comply with the following dimensions: 90 cm wide x 120 cm long.
  • The poster must be written in English, regardless of whether it is presented in Spanish.
  • The conference logos for your posters can be downloaded in light and dark versions as needed.
  • The poster must be submitted on the first day of the event during the registration stage.
  • Posters that do not meet the specified dimensions will be rejected.
  • There must be at least one presenter for each poster during the poster session.
  • If a poster is not presented, the corresponding participation certificate will not be awarded. In order to receive the certificate, the attendance sheet must be signed on the day of the poster presentation.
  • Each presenter is responsible for removing their poster. If it is not removed, the congress staff will remove and discard it.

Abstract submission

The abstract for oral and poster presentation, must be sent from May 29 to the following address cees2023@userena.cl indicating in the Subject the type of presentation: “Oral presentation” or “Poster presentation”. The abstract is limited to 250 words, and may include references and figures, for a maximum of two pages. The format to send the abstract can be downloaded here.
